It is being achieved by using innovative teaching techniques so as to make them well equipped to face present and future challenges and their overall sustainable professional growth. The Engineering Physics is taught to the students of first and second semester of B.Tech. and it is common for all the branches of engineering. The department has well-qualified and motivated faculty which is highly dedicated towards teaching and making every possible effort for providing the students creative and stimulating environment required for their complete professional development. At present, there are 9 faculty members in the department including 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor and 6 Assistant Professors. All the faculty members are doctorate with rich research and teaching experience. Many of them are actively involved in R&D in various research fields. They have published research work in high impact factor, peer reviewed international journals and have authored many books relevant to academics and research.

The Department is headed by Prof. Chandra Prakash who is an eminent materials scientist of international repute. He is former Associate Director of Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), DRDO and has more than 250 publications in reputed journals, 2 patents. Fifteen students have completed Ph.D. under his guidance. He is Fellow of several Societies and Chairman, Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Delhi Chapter, and Chairman Finance, Institute of Defence Scientists & Technologists (IDST).

Department of Applied Chemistry

The Department of Applied Chemistry is one of the foremost departments of Applied Sciences, MAIT. The Chemistry Department serves the purpose of imparting knowledge in applied chemistry which is a foundational building block for most engineering disciplines. The Department has been engaged in imparting the highest level technical and quality of academic education. Working at the intersection of chemistry, physics and mathematics departments, the objective of the Chemistry Department is to upskill the next generation of students in interdisciplinary science and reach across the basic and applied sciences to interpret relations into new fields and other solutions to pressing human needs.

The Department is contributing to the undergraduate B.Tech. Courses in first and second semester are common for all the engineering branches. The Scheme and Syllabi for theoretical and practical chemistry isas per GGSIP University.

The Department has a committed faculty team which has excelled in teaching and actively engaged in research publication (peer reviewed) and book writing. The Department comprises of competent Doctorate members including 2 Professors and 8 Assistant Professors. All the members are diligent and have had the frontier level research exposure to carry out Departmental objectives towards the enhancement of academic and industrial interactions. Faculties encourage a respectful workplace culture to cultivate a safe, comprehensive and fair environment for students – because their nature and how they interact - are the foundation for us.

Prof. Kusum Sharma is presently heading the Chemistry Department. She is an organic chemist with expertise in organic chemistry and polymer science. She has 10 international publications and 7 National publication and 1 national Conference & seminar. Two students have completed Ph.D. under her guidance.Prof. Sharma completed her Ph.D. from Jodhpur University, Rajasthan in the year 1987 and thereafter joined Kurukshetra University, Kurushetra as Research Associate. From 1995- 2000, worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Guru Jambheshwar University of science and Technology, Hisar. From 2000 - 2007, worked as an Associate Professor in the Chemistry Department of GPMC, Delhi. From 2007 onwards she is working as HOD, Department of Chemistry MAIT.

Department of Humanities

Department of Humanities is the only department under the aegis of Applied Science Department where the students learn Human Values, Professional Ethics and Communication Skills that provide them ample opportunities for an all round personality development. The objective of teaching the subjects like Communication Skills in 2nd and 5th semester and Human Values and Professional Ethics in 1st and 8th semester to all branches of engineering students, is to enrich their personality, enhance their soft skills and motivate holistic learning to become a successful professional, constructive member of society and a proud citizen of

India. Besides theoretical aspects, the department provides practical learning opportunities to students to improve their oral, written, verbal and non-verbal skills to attain their career objectives.

The Department of Humanities comprise well qualified and dedicated faculty members to enhance and guide the engineering students to improve the various traits of personality and provide practical drills to the students like Group Discussions, Mock Interviews, Video-Conferences and Public speeches to enhance their Communication Skills so that it may help them in their Placement-Drives and various academic and professional opportunities. To facilitate various educational objectives of the department we have two Language Labs having a capacity of 70 students.

The department is headed by Prof. Shikha Saxena who has more than 21 years of teaching experience. At present there are 7 faculty members in the department comprising 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, and 5 Assistant Professors. The members are having doctorate degrees with long teaching experience to guide the students. Most of the members are involved with creative writing, public speaking, artistic creations and theatre. All faculty members are actively involved in research and publication in their respective fields.

Department of Applied Mathematics

Applied Mathematics is a crucial department under the Department of Applied Sciences. The engineering mathematics is taught to the students pursuing B.Techin the first four semesters to assist them in understanding perplexing and arduous concepts in other subjects of applied engineering. The course of Applied Mathematics provides students with mathematical knowledge and tools to understand and apply concepts in the practical and theoretical problems of other subjects.

The department has highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty. All the faculty members are doctorate with rich research and teaching experience. Many of them are actively engaged in research activities and have published their work in national and international journals. They have authored books on diverse topics to enrich students on topics of engineering mathematics.

Under the capable supervision of Dr Anil Kumar as Head of the Department, all the faculty members are highly motivated to inculcate a wholistic approach towards teaching and learning. The chief ambition  of every member of this department is to provide  students with precise mathematical reasoning and calculations to enable them to make more accurate designs and predictions. The department focuses on pushing the boundaries of the classroom teaching while covering the carefully formulated IP syllabus in new and innovative ways. The prime focus of our department is to equip students with logical reasoning and analytical skills so that they can  unlock their problem-solving capabilities in practical fields of engineering. Our motivation is to make sure that the future engineers are equipped in every way to take our country on  a higher path of success.
